Provider Referrals
Partnering to Support Families with Timely Lactation Care
YOLO Breastfeeding partners with healthcare providers and community organizations to provide timely, evidence-based lactation support for birthing and lactating families. Early referral to lactation services can improve feeding outcomes, reduce complications, and support family-centered care.
Our goal is to complement clinical care through coordinated, community-based lactation support that helps families feel informed, supported, and confident.
When to Refer to YOLO
Referral to YOLO may be appropriate for families experiencing:
Feeding pain or discomfort
Latch difficulties
Concerns about milk transfer or milk supply
Slow or concerning weight gain
Pumping challenges
Supplementation needs
Transitions such as return to work or NICU discharge
Need for additional education, reassurance, or feeding assessment to support clinical recommendations
Early referral can provide families with timely support and reduce the risk of ongoing feeding challenges.
Our Approach to Care Coordination
YOLO prioritizes collaboration and continuity of care. We value warm hand-offs, timely follow-up, and respectful communication with referring providers to ensure families receive coordinated, family-centered support.
Our lactation services are designed to work alongside medical and community-based care, not replace it. When appropriate, we support ongoing communication to align lactation care with clinical goals and recommendations.
